Experienced street dance teacher - After-school clubs & cover North London Street Dance Academy Job details £25 - £35 an hour Freelance, Part-time North LondonPart-time / sessional Good rates of pay Hours: 3.15-4.15 or 3.30-4.30 with occasional cover work mid-week About us North London Street Dance Academy (NLSDA) is a growing dance academy working with children and young people across North London. We’re looking for an experienced street dance teacher who wants to help children thrive. Street dance is at the heart of what we do: we want our students to learn real foundations, develop their skills and musicality, grow in confidence and feel proud of their progress. Our classes are fun, but they’re also purposeful. We want children to leave having learned something. We’re a friendly, helpful and supportive team, and we’re looking for someone who will enjoy being part of it and growing with the business. The role You’ll lead street dance sessions at after-school clubs and may also provide cover for other NLSDA classes and programmes. You may also have opportunities to help prepare students for performances, including the Enfield schools performance at Millfield Theatre. Choreography skills would be a big advantage. Your responsibilities will include * Planning and teaching engaging, age-appropriate street dance sessions * Teaching foundations, technique, musicality, choreography and performance skills * Encouraging children of different ages and abilities to learn and progress * Creating a positive, inclusive and well-managed class environment * Keeping children safe and following NLSDA and school safeguarding procedures * Taking registers and communicating relevant updates to the NLSDA team * Preparing for sessions and leaving the teaching space tidy * Providing cover at other classes when available About you You’ll be a good fit if you: * Have at least 2–3 years’ experience teaching dance to children aged 3-16 * Have a strong background in street dance and enjoy working with young people * Care about helping children develop, learn and build confidence * Are reliable, patient, organised and confident leading a group * Can adapt your teaching to different ages, abilities and needs * Communicate well with children, parents, schools and colleagues * Want to grow alongside an expanding dance business Experience creating choreography and preparing groups for performances is desirable. Requirements * Willingness to complete the required enhanced DBS and safeguarding checks * Full UK driving licence and access to a car, as classes take place at different local venues * Ability to travel reliably to North London venues * References may be requested A current first aid qualification is desirable. If you don’t have one, NLSDA may be able to support you to attend a course.
