Recent, rapid growth in the number of students wishing to come to the sixth form means the school is expanding its team. Highlands is looking for the right person who can make a substantial difference to the lives of sixth form students and their contribution to whole school life. This is an exciting time to join the sixth form team as they seek to scale up provision, maintain excellent outcomes and ensure all students achieve their preferred destinations. The school is looking to be the sixth form destination of choice for students in the borough and is excited about this next phase of improvement. Key Accountabilities The successful candidate will support with: * Child protection designate duties * Mentoring students * Working collaboratively with internal and external agencies * Monitoring attendance and follow-up actions * Supporting the sixth form enrichment programme * Assisting with transition activities * Leading the supervision of supervised study areas * Contributing to a whole school culture where pupils are encouraged to make a positive contribution * Overseeing the sixth form rewards and sanctions programme, including the detention system Specific Duties Safeguarding Dealing with child protection issues in Years 12 and 13, including liaising with agencies. Mentoring Managing a caseload of students who need additional pastoral and wellbeing support in the sixth form. Working with Agencies Working with an extended range of networks and partnerships to broker support and learning opportunities and improve the quality of services to children and young people. Sixth Form Enrichment Actively contributing to the organisation and running of extracurricular activities, ensuring students from all backgrounds engage with opportunities such as Duke of Edinburgh and debate mate. Transition Activities Assisting with transition activities for pupils moving into sixth form. Attendance Monitoring Monitoring and reporting on the attendance of sixth form students, keeping parents informed and supporting intervention plans where attendance is a concern. Supervised Study Areas Working with the Director of Sixth Form to ensure study facilities are well maintained and effectively used by students. Rewards, Sanctions and Detentions Working with Heads of Year to monitor student behaviour and challenge unacceptable behaviour. Supporting the sixth form detention system, including reports, supervision and attendance monitoring. Whole School Culture Actively promoting and encouraging student leadership and student voice in the sixth form. Training Attending training and professional development sessions as instructed by the line manager.
