Joy, Despair and Attention: Poetic Forms for the Climate Emergency Workshop (Enfield Poets Literary Festival)
12:30 — 2pm - Saturday, 26 September 2026
Venue: Forty Hall
Forty Hill,
London,
EN2 9HA,
England,
In this workshop we will explore how we might approach the difficult and urgent subjects of climate change and environmental disaster within our writing. In particular, we will consider how certain poetic forms might allow us particular structures within which to explore, mourn, celebrate and attend to the environment.
How might a sonnet best explore coastal erosion? How can a list poem help us to embody moss? In the session you will look at examples from contemporary poetry collections, as well as trying out a variety of different poetic forms and prompts. Come prepared to do lots of writing!
The Enfield Poets Literary Festival is a celebration of words, voices and creativity in our community, bringing together established and emerging writers for readings, workshops, discussions and more.
