Resistance Comedy presents Friday Night Funnies at Chickenshed, Southgate on Friday 18 September 2026.
Join us for a brilliant night of live stand-up comedy featuring international talent, TV credits, award-winning performers and exciting circuit favourites, all brought together by Enfield-based comedy brand Resistance Comedy.
The evening will be hosted by Lateef Lovejoy, an extremely gifted entertainer, comedian, actor and host whose credits include ITV, BBC and Netflix.

Headlining the show is Jocelyn Chia, an international talent direct from the USA. A New York-based, Singapore-born lawyer-turned-comedian, Jocelyn has appeared on CNBC.com, SiriusXM, MTV, AXS TV’s Gotham Comedy Live and Comedy Central.

Also joining the line-up is Jason Patterson, winner of the Laftas Rising Star Award, a versatile and engaging comedian with international comedy experience and appearances on BBC Three and MTV.

Michelle Shaughnessy, originally from Toronto and now based in London, has become a fan favourite on the UK circuit. Her debut album You Know What You Did reached number one on the iTunes comedy charts, and she has earned acclaim for her sharp, relatable stand-up.

Ashish Suri brings smart, honest stand-up with credits including the BBC New Comedy Awards, LadBible and a solo show at Soho Theatre, London. His comedy blends cultural insight, immigrant life, relationships and the everyday chaos of trying to make sense of Britain.

Completing the line-up is Maple Zuo, a Chinese–Mongolian stand-up comedian featured on BBC Cultural Frontline. She has won The Comedy Store’s King Gong and Up the Creek’s Blackout, and was runner-up in the Funny Women Awards 2025.
