Venue: Forty Hall Estate
Forty Hill, London, EN2 9HA, England,

All Saints Sessions, who have been staging ground breaking poetry and electronics shows since their inception in All Saints Church, Edmonton in 2017, will perform their new show The Kiss of a Wave, commissioned by Poetry in Aldeburgh Festival 2025 where it premiered in November. Poet Cheryl Moskowitz and composer and sound artist Alastair Gavin, with their special guests lute virtuoso Sam Brown and dazzling soprano Elinor Popham, have used the centenary of the publication of Mrs Dalloway as a springboard for a mesmerising journey inside Virginia Woolf’s preoccupations with war, society and mental health, through new poetry and text, music from Elizabethan to contemporary, electronic soundscapes and specially made field recordings, presented in All Saints Sessions' trademark 360º sound system. This will be a rare opportunity to see a live production of this show, cited by many Aldeburgh festival-goers as the highlight of their weekend. The event will open with a special performance by John Hegley, one of the UK’s most beloved poets and lyricists, accompanied by folk, jazz and bluegrass violinist Eleanor Moreton. John and Eleanor have played together at many a festival and theatre (including Latitude and the Udderbelly Festival); John's lyrics are accompanied by Eleanor's fine-tuning on fiddle, largely in the folk idiom, although the pair do also have a crack at Dizzy Gillespie's A Night in Tunisia. At a recent performance an audience member adjudged the proceedings to be 'fun and tender’. John has selected a half-hour from his extensive collection of verses, which aims to complement the delicacy of The Kiss of a Wave. Don’t miss this wonderful double bill of all shades of words, music and sound.
