The Friendly Space

The Friendly Space is a welcoming, inclusive community initiative supporting young people aged 11–25 who are struggling with mainstream education or facing barriers to accessing the support they need. Founded by Kath and Sacha, experienced education and wellbeing professionals, we provide a safe, understanding and non-judgemental environment where young people can feel accepted, build confidence and take positive steps at their own pace. What We Offer Friendly Drop-In Sessions A relaxed space to meet others, chat, take part in activities or simply spend time somewhere they feel comfortable. Mentoring & Wellbeing Support Individual support to build confidence, explore challenges, develop coping strategies and work towards personal goals. Educational Support Tailored help to rebuild confidence in learning, develop study skills and explore ways to reconnect with education. Creative Opportunities Activities that encourage self-expression, communication, confidence and connection. Volunteering & Personal Development Opportunities to share ideas, develop skills, gain experience and help shape The Friendly Space as it grows. Understanding Individual Needs We understand that young people may experience anxiety, emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), low mood, social isolation or barriers linked to neurodivergence, including autism, ADHD and PDA. Our flexible approach recognises that everyone’s needs and circumstances are different.
