Meet the Team Behind Love Your Doorstep

July 28, 2026
Jo Johnson

First up is Jo Johnson, our Head of Community Management, who has been part of the Love Your Doorstep family since 2012.

If you’ve ever posted in the Love Your Doorstep Facebook community, there’s a good chance Jo has seen it.

As Head of Community Management, Jo plays a vital role in keeping our online community running smoothly. From approving posts and connecting residents with trusted local businesses to answering questions and helping reunite people with lost belongings, no two days are ever the same.

“It’s funny,” says Jo. “When I tell people what I do, they often think I just spend all day on Facebook! The reality is very different. Every day brings something new, and there’s so much happening behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly.”

Jo’s role is split between managing our online community of more than 36,000 members and the administration that helps support the wider Love Your Doorstep organisation. It requires local knowledge, quick thinking and a genuine passion for helping people.

Having joined Love Your Doorstep in 2012 after founder Emma Rigby spotted her enthusiasm for helping others in the community, Jo has watched both the organisation and the community grow enormously over the years.

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, the answer is simple – the people.

“I love using my knowledge of the local area to help answer questions and solve problems. Whether it’s helping someone find a trusted local business, tracking down a lost item or simply pointing someone in the right direction, it’s incredibly rewarding. Love Your Doorstep is a reminder every day that there is so much kindness in our community.”

One memory, however, has stayed with Jo more than any other.

Back in 2017, a member of the community reached out after receiving a cancer diagnosis and needing to arrange her wedding at very short notice.

What happened next perfectly captured the spirit of Love Your Doorstep.

Within hours, hundreds of local people had offered their help. Florists, photographers, hairdressers, cake makers, DJs, jewellers, stationery designers and many more volunteered their services free of charge to help create the wedding she had always dreamed of.

On the day of the wedding, Jo happened to be waiting at a bus stop when the wedding car drove past. She immediately recognised the bride and waved as she passed.

“The next day I congratulated the newlyweds online, and she replied, ‘I’m so glad I saw you.’ It was such a special moment and one I’ll never forget. It reminded me exactly why this community means so much.”

For Jo, moments like these are what Love Your Doorstep is all about – neighbours helping neighbours and proving that kindness is alive and well in Enfield.
