There was something really special about seeing Library Green filled with people, blankets, chairs, families and friends as Enfield Town hosted its very own outdoor cinema.
Screen on the Green was a huge success.
With the beautiful backdrop of Enfield Town Library behind the screen, residents settled in for an evening of films chosen by the community themselves.
But while the films may have been the attraction, for us the real story was everything that happened behind the scenes to make the event possible.
Partnership working at its best
Screen on the Green was delivered through the Enfield Town Action Team, bringing together people and organisations who all share one common goal – to support Enfield Town and help make it a place people want to visit, spend time in and feel part of.
The event was generously sponsored by Palace Shopping, with support from Dugdale Arts Centre and Love Your Doorstep, alongside the work of the wider Action Team and volunteers who helped make the evening happen.
From planning and promotion to logistics, community engagement and the event itself, different people brought different skills, contacts and resources to the table.
And that is exactly why partnership working matters.
No single organisation needs to do everything.
When businesses, community organisations, cultural venues, residents and other local partners work together, we can achieve far more than we ever could working separately.
An event shaped by the community
One of the things that made Screen on the Green particularly special was that local people were involved from the beginning.
The community chose the films they wanted to see.
Hundreds of people then booked tickets, brought their chairs and blankets and came together on Library Green to enjoy them.
Seeing the space being used in this way was fantastic.
It wasn’t just about watching a film. It was about people spending time in Enfield Town, enjoying one of our public spaces and experiencing something positive happening right in the heart of their community.
What is the Enfield Town Action Team?
The Enfield Town Action Team brings together local people, organisations, businesses and stakeholders who care about the future of Enfield Town.
The aim is simple: to work collaboratively to help make Enfield Town better.
That means listening to residents, identifying the things people would like to see improved and, importantly, finding practical ways of making things happen.
Earlier engagement with the community has highlighted issues including safety and people’s experience of the town centre, but creating positive reasons for people to come into Enfield Town is an important part of the picture too.
Screen on the Green showed exactly what can be achieved when ideas turn into action.
More than just one evening

For nearly 15 years we have seen the power of connecting people across Enfield – residents, businesses, voluntary organisations, schools, charities, public services and community groups.

Enfield Town is getting ready for a special evening of outdoor cinema as Screen on Library Green brings the community together for a night of film, family fun and a little bit of movie magic under the stars.
Taking place on Library Green in Enfield Town, the event will give residents the chance to enjoy not one, but two family favourites in a relaxed outdoor setting. Whether you stay for both films or choose the one you love most, it’s a lovely opportunity to bring a blanket, pack some snacks and enjoy a community cinema experience in the heart of the town.

Entry will be from 5.45pm via the Church Street entrance of Library Green, and visitors are encouraged to arrive early to find a good spot.
This is an outdoor event, so please dress comfortably and according to the weather. You are welcome to bring your own picnic blankets, fold-up chairs, popcorn and snacks. Chairs and blankets will not be provided.
As with all outdoor events, the weather will be kept under review. If the event needs to be postponed due to wet weather, ticket holders will be notified and a new date will be announced.
Screen on Library Green is a simple but brilliant way to bring people into Enfield Town, make use of our public spaces and create a shared experience for local families, friends and film lovers.

Meet the Enfield Town Action Team - Working Together to Shape the Future of Our Town Centre
Many residents will have started hearing about the Enfield Town Action Team over recent months, but what exactly is it, who is involved and what is it hoping to achieve?
Previously known as the Enfield Town Steering Group, the partnership has now evolved into the Enfield Town Action Team. It brings together representatives from local businesses, charities, cultural organisations, community groups and Enfield Council, all working collaboratively to support Enfield Town and help deliver positive change.
Love Your DoorStep is proud to be part of the Action Team and wanted to introduce the people behind the initiative, highlight what has already been achieved and share what’s coming next.
A Partnership for Enfield Town
The Action Team was established to help coordinate projects that make Enfield Town a better place to live, work, visit and do business.
Rather than replacing the work already taking place across the town, the group aims to bring organisations together, encouraging collaboration and helping new ideas become reality.
The Chair role is funded through Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding, with Adrian Day recently appointed as the group’s Independent Chair to provide strategic leadership and help secure future funding opportunities.

Delivering Events for the Community
One of the Action Team’s priorities is bringing more activity into the town centre.
Working with creative producer Ozioma, two fantastic community events have already taken place.
Armed Forces Day
Held in Saddlers Square, the event celebrated local veterans and those currently serving our country through storytelling, exhibitions, music and community activities, bringing people together to recognise their contribution.
A Play in a Day
This weekend saw 19 young people create, rehearse and perform an original piece of theatre in just one day before showcasing it to the public in Palace Gardens Shopping Centre.
The project was a real collaborative effort, with support from Ozioma and her facilitators, Courtney Ward, Sarisha Kumar, Preston Gubby, Clare Moloney and Kathy Worrall. It demonstrated exactly what can be achieved when organisations across Enfield work together to create opportunities for young people and bring energy into the town centre.
What’s Next?
The next exciting project from the Enfield Town Action Team is Hidden in Plain Sight – Discover Enfield Town’s History on a New Heritage Trail, encouraging residents and visitors to explore the fascinating stories and hidden history that make Enfield Town unique.
The Action Team has a growing programme of events and initiatives planned, all designed to support local businesses, celebrate Enfield’s culture and heritage, and create a town centre that people are proud to visit.
At Love Your DoorStep, we’ll continue sharing updates as the Action Team’s work develops and we’ll be following its journey as more exciting projects are announced over the coming months.

The Enfield Town Action Team has taken another important step in its journey to strengthen the town centre with the appointment of an Independent Chair. Bringing together representatives from businesses, charities, cultural organisations and the public sector, the partnership is focused on creating a thriving destination for residents, visitors and local businesses.
Previously known as the Enfield Town Steering Group, the Action Team was established in late 2025 to coordinate existing initiatives while developing new projects that will enhance Enfield Town.
The Independent Chair role, funded for one year through Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding, will provide strategic, independent and inclusive leadership. A key part of the role will be developing a long-term fundraising strategy to help sustain the group’s work beyond the initial funding period.
Following a collaborative recruitment process involving members of the Action Team, local consultant Adrian Day was appointed to the position.
Speaking about his appointment, Adrian said:
“I’m excited by the opportunity to help the Enfield Town Action Team revitalise and improve Enfield Town for all. The Town is at the heart of a London borough of over 300,000 people and has great potential to be an important destination for retail, hospitality, work, entertainment, culture and leisure.
“I have lived in the borough for over 30 years and, before that, fondly remember the excitement of visiting the Town as a child from a nearby village. It’s great to see businesses, public bodies, community bodies and charities already working together effectively in the group. I look forward to supporting members to deliver an ambitious programme for change, helping Enfield Town become a place of which we can all be proud.”
Looking ahead, the Action Team is developing an exciting programme of events and activities to help animate Enfield Town throughout the summer. Supported by UK Shared Prosperity Funding (UKSPF), the programme aims to attract more visitors into the town centre, support local businesses and create opportunities for the community to come together.
