Every week, we bring together the stories, events, opportunities and local updates that matter most to residents, helping you stay connected to the people, businesses, charities and organisations that make Enfield such a special place to live. From community news and what's on guides to local business spotlights, charity initiatives and important borough updates, The Enfield Brief is designed to keep you informed, inspired and connected to your local community. Whether you're looking for something to do this weekend, a trusted local service, ways to support local causes or simply want to know what's happening across the borough, you'll find it all right here. Thank you for being part of our community.
A huge thank you to everyone who read, shared and supported the first edition of our new-look Enfield Brief last week.
After 14 years of connecting our community, we're always looking for ways to make it easier for residents to discover what's happening across Enfield, find trusted local businesses, learn about local events and celebrate the people who make our borough such a special place to live.
One thing I continue to hear time and time again is how much people value our community. Whether it's supporting a local business, volunteering for a good cause, attending a local event or simply helping a neighbour, these small acts all help make Enfield a stronger and more connected place.
As always, thank you for being part of Love Your Doorstep.
Now, let's take a look at what's happening across Enfield this week.

What Happens Next?
The future of Chase Park and Crews Hill continues to generate debate following Enfield Council's decision to withdraw support for proposals that could see up to 21,000 homes built on Green Belt land in the borough.
Supporters argue that new housing is urgently needed to help address London's housing shortage, while opponents raise concerns about the loss of Green Belt land, increased pressure on infrastructure and the potential impact on the character of the area.
Despite the council's change in position, questions remain over whether elements of the proposals could still progress through national planning processes, keeping the issue firmly in the public spotlight.
With strong views on all sides, the future of Chase Park and Crews Hill remains one of the most significant and closely watched planning debates in Enfield, with decisions made today likely to shape the borough for generations to come.

Enfield's D-Day Hero Honoured
Saturday 6 June
Enfield's own D-Day veteran, Don Howkins, joined commemorations marking the 82nd anniversary of the Normandy landings on 6 June.
Don, who celebrated his 105th birthday earlier this year, laid a wreath in memory of the friends and fellow servicemen who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Second World War. A former Paratrooper, Don's presence was a powerful reminder of the courage and resilience of the generation who helped shape the world we live in today.
As fewer veterans remain to share their stories firsthand, commemorations like these become ever more important. We thank Don and all those who served, and remember those who never came home.

Hello!
What a week it's been! After that incredible spell of sunshine, it feels like everyone has a little more spring in their step. Parks have been busy, cafés have been buzzing and it’s been wonderful to see so many people out enjoying everything our borough has to offer.
We'd also like to wish all students sitting their GCSE and A-Level exams the very best of luck. The finish line is now in sight!
It's also been a significant week for Enfield, with a new political chapter beginning for the borough. Whatever people's views, our hope remains the same as it has always been, a cleaner, safer, kinder and more vibrant Enfield that we're all proud to call home.
Fourteen years on, Love Your Doorstep remains independent, community-focused and committed to bringing people together, supporting local businesses and championing the people who make Enfield such a special place.

It has been a significant week in Enfield politics, with a new council administration taking office following local elections that resulted in no overall control.
Early decisions have already been made on major issues, including withdrawing from the Government's New Towns Programme and reviewing plans for the proposed Tottenham Hotspur development at Whitewebbs Park. While opinions may differ, residents consistently tell us they want cleaner streets, safer neighbourhoods, thriving town centres and stronger community spirit.
As Enfield enters this new chapter, many will be hoping to see positive change, constructive collaboration and decisions that put the borough first.
Looking for something to do locally? The Love Your Doorstep Events section is your go-to guide for what's happening across Enfield.
From community festivals and family activities to business networking events, workshops and local markets, we help connect residents with the people, places and experiences that make our borough special.

First Look Inside Trent Park House
Local residents can be among the first to step inside the beautifully restored Trent Park House when its new café opens on 14 June.
Run by local favourites Blends & Beyond, the café will be located in the historic Blue Room, home to the stunning restored Rex Whistler murals.
The café will officially open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11am and will offer coffee, cake and light lunches ahead of the museum's full opening later this summer. It's a unique opportunity to experience one of Enfield's most fascinating historic buildings before the House of Secrets museum opens its doors.
Instead of a traditional birthday party this year, Sophie and a group of friends will be taking on a muddy obstacle run this weekend to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The challenge is particularly meaningful for the family, who are currently experiencing the impact of cancer first-hand and have seen how advances in treatment can make a difference.
With 1 in 2 people expected to be
diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime, every donation will help fund vital research and support future breakthroughs in cancer care.
